Abstract

Enteral stents (ES) have emerged as first-line therapy for the treatment of malignant gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) and can offer durable symptom palliation with high rates of technical and clinical success. In patients with appreciable anticipated survival, however, tissue ingrowth may result in stent occlusion and recurrent GOO. The objective of this study was to compare rates of stent failure and reintervention following palliative ES for patients with GOO due to pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) versus other malignant etiologies.
