Abstract

The development of walled-off necrosis (WON) can significantly impact the clinical course and prognosis of acute pancreatitis. In up to 30% of cases it can get infected and lead to sepsis, multiorgan failure and increased risk of death. Infection of necrosis is, therefore, considered an absolute indication for drainage. Double pigtails stents (DPS) and lumen apposing metal stents (LAMS) have both been proposed for endoscopic drainaige of WON. LAMS have a larger diameter, allow repeated necrosectomies, have a longer patency but are more expensive and their clinical efficacy and safety profile is still matter of debate. Aim: to compare short and long-term outcomes of DPS and LAMS used for the endoscopic drainage of WON. Materials and
