Abstract

Type‐Token Ratios (TTRs) have been used in a variety of research efforts, including studies of the interactions of source credibility, motivation, cognitive states, and context with language use. While the calculation of these ratios is tedious and error prone when done by hand, they can be accurately performed by microcomputer. Two versions of a type‐token ratio computation program are available in BASIC. One is designed to run on an IBM PC or compatible. The other is written to run on a Model 100 or other small computer that uses Microsoft BASIC. Source statements are presented and described. Sample input data and program output are included.
