Abstract
The use of biometric smart cards may provide strong coordinated authentication across multi-vendor telemedical applications, health care enterprises and payers. The establishment of trusted third party services (TTPs) for securing the commerce component of health care in a web-based telemedical information society is necessary for the operation of certificate-based payment systems such as SET.
