Abstract

Extracranial carotid artery aneurysms are rare vascular lesions. They most often present as a pulsatile neck or parapharyngeal mass with associated neurological defects. Aneurysm rupture as a result of injury or infection requires urgent surgical intervention with restoration of the patency in the internal carotid artery. This article presents a patient with rapidly growing mass in the neck, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of this rare vascular tumor.
