Abstract

Clustering is an efficient routing strategy to prolong the lifetime of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, a novel localized routing algorithm (TSEP) is proposed. TSEP utilizes local energy balancing to achieve global energy balancing. TSEP combines the K-regular method with routing based on geographical location information, and is a distributed and localized energy balancing strategy. The performance of TSEP is simulated and analyzed. The results show that TSEP significantly prolongs the lifetime of energy-critical nodes and the network compared with existing protocols.
