Abstract

Nine cases of scleroderma (systemic sclerosis 7, morphea 2) and 4 cases of dermatomyositis, all in the active phase, were examined. An alteration of the hepatic kynureninase activity was constantly observed. This enzymatic damage was confirmed by the direct determination on the liver in scleroderma but it was not accompanied either by an increase of the tryptophanpyrrolase activity or by histamine fast achlorhydria. The results are discussed.
