Abstract

Through the generosity of those in charge of the distribution of tryparsamide, we have been able, during the last six months, to undertake a preliminary study to determine the value of this drug in the treatment of neurosyphilis, as well as to determine the toxicity and the untoward reactions of the drug, if such existed. In order that our study should be of value, we were careful to carry out our procedure exactly as outlined to us, and to take all the necessary precautions that were definitely given to us at the outset of our study. A large part of our material came from the psychopathic service of the University of Michigan Medical School, and, therefore, most of our cases were those of the parenchymatous type.
