Abstract

Abstract 1. 1) Glossina palpalis and G. pallidipes , captured in various parts of Sakwa, Central Nyanza, Kenya, were fed on white rats and the resulting trypanosome infections were identified. 2. 2) One strain of T. rhodesiense was isolated from G. pallidipes . 3. 3) T. brucei was isolated from both G. palpalis and G. pallidipes . 4. 4) Many strains of T. congolense were isolated from 6953 G. pallidipes , but none from 9441 G. palpalis . It is suggested that, in Sakwa, either T. congolense does not readily develop in G. palpalis or that this tsetse fly does not normally feed on animals infected with T. congolense .
