Abstract

This paper reports an experimental examination on trading of authority between the human and the automation. The effect of reliability of automation, magnitude of fault, human trust in automation, and human self-confidence in their ability to perform manual control on human acceptance of situation-adaptive autonomy (SAA) are investigated to show the effectiveness of SAA under time-critical conditions.
