Abstract

Objective To explore the trust level of hospitalized patients with schizophrenia towards medical staff and its influencing factors. Methods By convenience sampling, a total of 103 patients with schizophrenia hospitalized in a psychiatric specialized hospital in Beijing in January 2018 were selected and investigated by General Information Questionnaire, ABIM Patient Assessment for Continuous Professional Development (ABIM-PACPD) , and Affect and Cognition-based Trust (ACT) . A total of 103 questionnaires were distributed and 102 were collected, the effective recovery rate of the questionnaire was 99.0%. Results The 102 patients achieved the score of (43.19±5.58) in ACT, which was at a high level; the three items with the highest scores all belonged to the dimension of trust, and the three items with the lowest scores all belonged to the dimension of emotion. A total of 102 patients' doctor-patient communication evaluation score was (45.06±5.60) , the score ranged of 25 to 50. Correlation analysis indicated that, the total score of doctor-patient communication in schizophrenic patients was positively correlated with the total score of ACT, cognitive trust and emotional trust dimension (P<0.05) . Conclusions The inpatient schizophrenic patients have a high level of trust towards the medical staff and the influencing factors include age, source of medical expense and the effect of patient-doctor communication, etc. Key words: Schizophrenia; Doctor-patient relationship; Nurse-patient relationship; Trust
