Abstract

THE motions of shaker and trunk were measured in 'Hamlin' and 'Valencia' oranges for two harvest seasons on linear and mulidirectional shaking patterns. Trunk amplitudes ranged from 20 to 32 mm and shaker amplitudes ranged from 21 to 30 mm. The average difference between the simultaneous position of the tree trunk and shaker ranged from 6 to 11 mm. Trunk amplitude was negatively correlated to trunk circumference. Percent fruit removal was positively correlated to trunk amplitude for the treatments without abscission chemicals.
