Abstract

The paper first outlines the Non-Minimum State-Space (NMSS) approach to Proportional-Integral-Plus (PIP) control system design, which allows for state variable feedback (SVF) control involving only the measured input and output variables of the system. It then describes two practical examples; the first example is concerned with controlling the environmental temperature in a glasshouse; and the second involves the design and implementation of a self-adaptive PIP temperature control system for a nonlinear heated bar system.
