Abstract
Amidst the lush greenery and centuries-old stone of Acadia University, an audience of Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation scholars received a preview of a new jazz opera on 16 June. It was also a visiting public’s first opportunity to hear the latest collaboration between Halifax poet and scholar George Elliott Clarke and New York composer DD Jackson. Clarke, Jackson and a trio of singers arrived at the university town of Wolfville, about an hour east of Halifax, where the Bay of Fundy meets the Annapolis Valley, for a workshop of Trudeau:LongMarch / Shining Path.
