Abstract

Distances in Central America are short and cargo volumes are small to build a dense network of short sea shipping. Furthermore, there is no transnational railway network. This gives trucking services a key role in international transport. This preliminary study characterizes trucking services in Belize, Central America and the Dominican Republic and concludes with policy recommendations to improve performance
