Abstract

Three recent hoards of gold coins are published : a confiscated one from Hama, dep. ca. 507 AD, and two from archaeological excavations in Tartous and Tell-Fekeriye / Resaina-Theodosioupolis, dep. ca. 610. Two bronze finds from excavations are added : 34 folles and halffolles from Ras el-Ma’ara (Yabroud) dep. ca. 596 and a sample of 38 folles and half-folles from the 6 000 bronze coins found during excavations at As-Sanamein / anc. Aere, south of Damascus. One notes an unpublished variant of the rare consular solidus of Anastasius (Hama), the identical dies of five of the six solidi from Fekheriye and the importance of Justin II folles from the military mint in As-Sanamein.
