Abstract

Replacing the rammed carbonaceous lining of the main trough of a blast furnace is one of the most difficult and time-consuming operations in preparing for tapping of the furnace. The efficiency with which this operation is performed determines the number of taps that can be made and the overall efficiency of the furnace.
