Abstract

Trotsky's History of the Russian Revolution, although generally regarded as the best Marxist interpretation, is deemed altogether too subjective by western scholars. Trotsky, however, displays excellent sociological insight into the revolutionary process; he is thus enabled to see things that have otherwise been overlooked. The work is often an excellent example of the use of sociology in the writing of history.
