Abstract

Methods: A Retrospective analysis of all patients admitted to Temple University Hospital with DKA between 2003-2008. Patient were included if they had their cardiac troponin I measured, did not have an evidence of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and had a follow up at Temple for at least 18 months. Patients were divided into 1elevated troponin group (above the normal reference interval 0.05-0.40 ng/ml), 2normal troponin group. The composite end point of the study was the occurrence of MI, PCI, CABG or death during the follow up period and not at the time of the initial admission.
