Abstract

Both 3-D and 2-D seismic data were interpreted and merged to map the giant Troll Field in the Norwegian North Sea northwest of Bergen. The quality of the seismic time‐to‐depth conversion for the topmost reservoir, the Sognefjord Formation (Figure 1), is dependent on the quality of the velocity predictions. Predicting accurate velocities for a proper depth conversion of the reservoir is necessary to accurately estimate reserves and optimize the placement of development wells.
