Abstract

The question of the woman which had been considered a significant symbolic element of the Turkish modernization since the beginning of the Turkish Republic has begun to transform itself over the years into a question discussed by women themselves as a result of the development of second wave of feminism. During this period a feminist movement also developed within the Kurdish opposition movement, and Kurdish women’s movement gained an important and decisive power for the future of the feminist movement in Turkey in general. The objective of this work is to try to analyze the current developments and potentials of the feminist movement in Turkey within a historical perspective.
