Abstract
The first part of this article covers the Russian prose and poetry translated into Turkish between 1884-1940, including Griboyedov's play Woe from Wit (Gore ot uma) (1824), the first literary work translated from Russian into Turkish. Translations of the works of classic Russian writers such as Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol, Turgenev, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Chehov and Gorky are also investigated. The subject of the second part of this paper is the teaching of Russian and Russian literature between 1883-2006.
