Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the metaphors that the Turkish preservice teachers’ formulated to describe the concept of drama practices. The study group of the research is composed of 124 Turkish preservice teachers who study 4. class in the Department of Turkish Education at Faculties of Education in Cumhuriyet University and Erciyes University in 2012-2013 academic year. The research datum were obtained by Turkish preservice teachers’ completing the sentence “drama practice is like ... because ...”. Phenomenology design within qualitative research methods was used in this research. Content analysis technique was used to analyze and interpret the collected datum. According to the data, Turkish preservice teachers produced 70 valid metaphors about the drama practices. These metaphors have been classified under eleven different categories (10 positive, 1 negative) by taking their common traits into account. According to the findings of this study, a document portrait and a maxmap of drama practices were created with the latest version of MAXQDA.
