Abstract

Government, in the most basic of terms, is a group of individuals managing affairs of the state on the behalf and behest of the citizenry. They hold power to make the laws, interpret them and subsequently implement them. In the dispensation of their duties, should the public then participate in the running of the state? This paper shall seek to first define and justify for public participation in governance, and appraise its position in Kenya’s Constitutional dispensation. The paper shall conclude with an analysis on how the right to public participation should be achieved.
