Abstract
The percentage of user acceptance and adoption of some apps needs to be improved. The reasons for this issue are multifactorial. This research observed usability problems in implementing the Graphical User Interface (GUI) Design Patterns. As a result, we design and implement TriSigEM (Peirce’s Triad of Signs Evaluation Model), a hierarchical model capable of guiding an evaluator in observing the GUI’s signs: Index, Icon, and Symbol. TriSigEM can help us improve GUI’s implementation and, even- tually, the app’s functionalities. Also, we made a comparative analysis of TriSigEM with related works reported in the literature. This analysis shows that TriSigEM surpasses other models. Moreover, we highlighted that the analyzed GUI patterns need specifications on the Triad of Signs.
