Abstract
The TaTe103− anion of the title compound, (C24H20P)3[TaTe10].C3H7NO, consists of an extended `birdcage' of Te atoms containing an interstitial Ta atom. The Ta atom is seven-coordinate, with Ta—Te distances ranging from 2.753 (3) to 2.870 (3) Å, arranged in a distorted capped trigonal prism geometry.
