Abstract
Polyunsaturated, alkynyl functionalized phosphide and phosphinidene clusters are readily accessible from tris(alkynyl)phosphines (RCC)3P: a complete triad of isostructural clusters [M3(CO)9(µ3-η2-CCBut){µ2-P(CCBut)2}](M = Fe, Ru, Os) and a novel square-planar alkynylphosphinidene cluster [Ru4(CO)10(µ4-η4-ButCC–CCBut){µ4-P(CCBut)}] have been structurally characterized.
