Abstract

In this article, we report two diiron propanedithiolate complexes with monosubstituted tris(2-thienyl)phosphine. Reaction of [Fe2(CO)6{μ-SCH2CH2CH2S}] (1) or [Fe2(CO)6{μ-SCH2CH(CH3)S}] (2) with one equivalent of tris(2-thienyl)phosphine and Me3NO·2H2O as the oxidative reagent yielded complexes [Fe2(CO)5P(2-C4H3S)3{μ-SCH2CH2CH2S}] (3) and [Fe2(CO)5P(2-C4H3S)3{μ-SCH2CH(CH3)S}] (4) in 75% and 91% yields, respectively. The new complexes 3 and 4 have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 31P{1H} NMR, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Additionally, the electrochemistry of complexes 3 and 4 has been studied by cyclic voltammetry. Interestingly, the fungicidal activity has been studied.
