Abstract

Rydberg series in triply excited hollow lithium behave verydifferently, with respect to autoionization, from series in thedoubly excited ionic system. As opposed to doubly excitedstates, triply excited Rydberg levels will always startto overlap as the series limit is approached. It is possible topredict the autoionization width of a triply excited Rydbergstate from the doubly excited ionic series limit. Thepredictions are illustrated for the2s2p(3Po)nl(4Po) series in hollow lithium.
