Abstract

In this paper, a microstrip patch antenna with triple-band triple-mode characteristics is proposed based on periodic bowtie dipoles. The antenna consists of two parts: the right part is the cyclical array antenna with the bowtie shape; the left part is copied from the structure of the right part and compressing geometry to be two thirds of original size. The antenna operates at three modes: radiates on positive direction of Y axis at the low frequency band, radiates on negative direction of Y axis at the high frequency band and radiates on both positive and negative direction of Y axis at the middle frequency band. The field distribution, reflection coefficient and radiation patterns are given for confirming the working principle of the antenna. With good impedance matching, this antenna owns potential application value in wireless communication systems.
