Abstract

In this paper, a CPW-fed compact antenna with tri-band reject characteristics is presented and experimentally verified. A curved ground plane is introduced to enhance the bandwidth to 250 MHz. The sectoral patch antenna has a T-strip and Y-slot to reject WLAN (4.78 ∼ 5.68 GHz) and WiMAX (3.385 ∼ 3.97 GHz), respectively. L-strips are placed in the ground plane to increase the bandwidth as well as the plane to reject uplink satellite frequency in the X-band (7.93 ∼ 8.74 GHz). In all notch bands, high VSWR values are observed. The structure is compact with a size of 15 × 12 × 0.8 mm3. To study the effect of strip/slot on VSWR, parametric analysis is done. The notch frequency is theoretically calculated by an empirical formula. The measured result validates the simulated and calculated notch frequencies.
