Abstract

Although varicocele is the main treatable cause of male infertility, not all infertile men treated for varicocele will present improved semen quality and/or fertility potential. Moreover, we currently do not have mechanisms to assess if varicocelectomy will lead to a positive outcome. In this context, we wished to compare the pre-treatment seminal plasma proteome of men submitted to varicocelectomy with improved semen quality (positive outcome) and men without improved semen quality (negative outcome) after a one year follow-up.
