Abstract

In this study, we characterized the therapeutical effects of trimetazidine on subjection to coronary artery ligation, and applied proteomic approach to investigate its potential mechanism of action. Measurement for serum levels of blood pressure, organs index, left ventricular (LV) wall thickness, P53 mRNA and Caspase-3 mRNA expression, heart function and histological study for infarct area of heart were performed. The results showed that trimetazidine significantly decreased blood pressure, heart index, LV wall thickness, P53 mRNA and Caspase-3 mRNA expression in infarct area of heart, while it increased the LV ejection fraction, LV end-diastolic volume and neovascularization density in rats with coronary occlusion. These experimental data revealed that trimetazidine treatment were useful in treatment for heart diseases. Key words: Left ventricular (LV) remodeling, heart failure, angiogenesis, trimetazidine.
