Abstract
A trilobite assemblage found in greenish gray argillites in the western El Baul massif, Venezuela, makes it possible to assign a Paleozoic age to the enclosing rocks, here defined as the Mireles formation. The argillites had previously been included in the group of rocks described as El Baul metamorphics, for which a Triassic-Jurassic age had been postulated.
