Abstract

Laser triggered vacuum switch (LTVS) shows high developing potential compared to many other pulse power switches; To enhance the triggered characteristics of LTVS, this paper adopts different powder mixtures of metal (include Ti, and W) and metal salts (include KCl, NaCl, K 2 CO 3 , and Na 2 CO 3 ) as the target materials of LTVS, while the metal is with favorable thermal conduction capability, and the metal salts is with better chemical activity. The experiment circuits are established later, and the time-delay and triggered jitter of LTVS prototype with different target materials are tested under different laser energy, under-voltage ratio, open distance. And the influences of different target materials on the working life of LTVS are also compared. The study results provide references to the design of LTVS products.
