Abstract

Objective To explore the distribution and tridimensional architecture of the arachnoid granulations (AGs) in rats. Methods Twenty-four adult Wistar rats were randomly assigned 3 groups that received subarachnoid injection of methylene blue, and observations of light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Results AGs were mainly localized at paramedian of the TS. Most AGs were seen to grow in clusters and coated with an intact layer of endothelial cells. Conclusion ACs in rats share similar morphology and functions with human, indicating that rat AG can be used as an animal model for study of functions of CFS. Key words: Arachnoid granulation; Distribution; Electron microscopy
