Abstract

The studies of right-sided heart valve disease and of mixed valve disease have received less attention than those of pure left-sided valve disease; this is a consequence of fewer data and less interest in the right-sided valves and of even less data concerning mixed left-sided valve disease. However recognition that severe tricuspid and pulmonic regurgitation lead to increased morbidity and mortality has spurred increased study and development of newer interventions for those lesions. There is also renewed interest in the fate of mixed left-sided disease following transcatheter treatment of aortic valve disease. The aim of this chapter is to summarize recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of right-sided valve disease and mixed left-sided valve disease.
