Abstract

Right atrial pressure (RAP) from echocardiography are used in assessing pulmonary artery pressure and volume status. RAP is commonly estimated from features of inferior vena cava (IVC). Empirically, higher RAP may lead to higher pressure difference between right atrium and right ventricle and thus to higher tricuspid peak inflow velocity of early filing (tricuspid E velocity). Tricuspid E velocity therefore may corroborate RAP values.
