Abstract

The whipworm of pig, Trichuris suis, can cause severe diarrhea, anorexia, and lose of activity owing to reduced average daily gains and decreased feed efficiency. The severity of Trichuris infection depends on the infective dose along with concurrent infection. It has an impact on perfor-mance and production of pig. Prevalence of T. suis infection is declining over time due to swine in confinement. This paper describes an inci-dental finding of T. suis in an adult pig reared in backyard system, revealing presence of T. suis in swine population of Assam.
