Abstract

This work presents a concise report on the tribological performance of a new Gd/Y based Mg in the temperatures ranging from room temperature up to 250 °C. The alloys’ tribological resilience and sensitivity to temperature variations were systematically explored, revealing intricate dynamics that influence sliding wear behaviour. Results offered valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms governing the tribological response of Mg-Gd-Y alloys, thereby contributing to the design and optimization of materials for applications requiring enhanced performance under varying temperature conditions. This research not only advances our understanding of the intricate interplay between alloy composition, microstructural features, and temperature but also provides a foundation for the development of tailored Mg-based materials with superior tribological properties.
