Abstract

Coatings were obtained by magnetron sputtering of a ZrSiB target onto WC-6%Co substrates. Samples were studied in terms of their structure, friction coefficient, wear- and impact loading resistance. The Zr-Si-B coating contained the hexagonal ZrB2 phase. Coating deposition reduces the friction coefficient of the substrate by 10% and increases the resistance to impact loads by 25-50%.
