Abstract

In this era, sustainable development is most considerable aspect in manufacturing. Tribology plays an important role to make process smooth and environmental friendly, to achieve product defects free and sustainable. There are many types of manufacturing processes for product development, in which forming is used for development of wrought forms of material for the applications in automotive, aerospace, defense, and other industries. For these applications, tribology (friction, wear, and lubrication) have great impact on bulk and sheet forming processes. In this chapter, tribological aspects for different forming process have been discussed. Later on, tribology main components are described in order to define friction models, wear mechanism, and lubrication behavior in metal forming processes. Also recent developments of tribology in new technology of powder metal forming processes have been studied and sustainable goal for environmental effects is identified.
