Abstract

The 1st report described about the fretting friction and wear characteristics due to tangential oscillating motion between contact surfaces in high temperature helium gas envionment. Generally speaking, in sliding contact surfaces, normal as well as tangential movencent is inevitable. At this time, the percussive impact wear experiments were performed and the following results were obtained: (1) Hastelloy X, (2) Carbon graphite and (3) as spray ZrO2 plasma coated Hastelloy X on Hastelloy X occur respectively plastic flow, Brinell indentation deformation and surface roughness transfer. (4) As spray ZrO2 Plasma coated Hastelloy X on itself shows excellent antiimpact-wear characteristics.
