Abstract

AlFeCoCr–xTiC coatings were fabricated on S355 steel by laser cladding, and the effect of TiC mass fraction on the tribo–corrosive performance in 3.5 % NaCl solution was investigated using a wear tester. The results show the average coefficients of friction of AlFeCoCr–4 %TiC, –8 %TiC and –12 %TiC coatings are 0.64, 0.72, and 0.77, respectively; and the corresponding wear rates are 0.306, 0.255, and 0.213 mm3•N−1•m−1, respectively, which are decreased with the increase of TiC mass fraction. The wear mechanism is combined of adhesion wear, abrasive wear and corrosion wear, in which the abrasive wear is increased with the TiC mass fraction.
