Abstract

Abstract Bis(terpyridine)–iron(II) complex wires (the number of the complex units: 1–3) possessing triarylamine at the termini were fabricated on gold electrode. The electron-transfer rate constant between the triarylamine moiety and gold electrode was quantified by means of potential-step chronoamperometry, revealing that (1) triarylamine afforded fast electron transportation (i.e., large zero-distance rate constant ket0) and that (2) the distance attenuation factor, βd, was independent of the terminal redox site.
