Abstract

A horizontal axis wind machine for prevention of frost damage, built in Australia, has been tested under local conditions in a citrus grove. It was shown to be effective in raising orchard temperature by 2°F over an area of up to 10 acres at a power expenditure of 12 h.p. (electrical input) per acre, which is comparable to results obtained with similar machines in California and with the low speed Australian type of wind machine.
