Abstract

Supplementation with vitamin D3 showed no advantage over placebo in reducing risk of depression among adults ages 50 and older, a randomized controlled trial has found. No significant differences between vitamin D3 and placebo were found for study population subgroups, including Black adults, who experience low levels of vitamin D3 in higher numbers. Results of the trial were published Aug. 4 in JAMA.
