Abstract
Good surgical tissue fixation with formalin requires a time greater than that currently acceptible for routine surgical processing. A faster fixation procedure was developed with triacetin used as a secondary fixative. The results were superior to buffered formalin alone, resulting in better staining and excellent cutting quality on all tissues. No increased time was required for overnight processing.
