Abstract

Novel tri-amine functionalized graphene oxide (TGO) material was synthesized using organo silane {3-[2-(2-amino ethyl amino) ethyl amino] propyl trimethoxy silane, AEPTMS}. The solid catalyst was completely characterized by varied characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Raman, TEM and SEM. The tri-amine group grafting over the graphene oxide surface was established by FT-IR study. The TGO catalyst exhibited remarkable activity for the Henry reaction, producing p-hydroxynitrostyrene, with conversion (93%) and excellent selectivity (100%). The conversion efficiency of the catalyst material sustained for three cycles.
