The aim of the paper is to determine trends in energy intensity of the Polish economy at the mezoeconomic level in the years 1996—2012 with particular emphasis on energy intensity of global production, final production and induced energy intensity. In the analyzed period a decrease of energy intensity level in whole economy was observed. The most energy-intensive sectors were identified and average pace of changes of mentioned ratios was calculated. The World Input-Output Database (WIOD) is the data core and includes unified energy balances, according to PKD 2004 classification.
